Layout

•	4 foundation piles (top) - build up in suit from Ace to King.

•	10 tableau piles (below foundations) - build up or down by suit. Only the top card of each pile is available for play. Spaces may be filled by any available card. At the start of the game 6 cards are dealt face up to the leftmost 2 piles, 5 cards to each of the other piles.

History

Fortress is a close relative of Beleaguered Castle. Chessboard is a more strategic variation of Fortress.
